Challenge!
The things I get involved in!! I’ve never done a Legal Challenge before. It’s the sort of thing that would frighten the life out of any ordinary Joe (which is what I am). And I’m afraid my views on the Legal profession have not always been complimentary (that’s an understatement!!).
However. Here I am - along with my friend Ken Forest (a planning expert) - taking on the might of Tamworth Council as regards the Local Plan and specifically centred around the Anker Valley Housing Plans. I really can’t say anything about the case - being one of the Claimants and all - and not wanting to prejudice anything. But what’s already public knowledge or in the media I have provided links to below.
It’s massively complicated legally - and one of those things that makes you think, “Is this really what I was supposed to do as a Councillor?” Or was I just supposed to lie back accept something which I clearly felt was wrong - not just wrong for Tamworth but legally wrong? I don’t think when Glascote people voted me in that they expected me to take a fight this far. But I always said in my leaflets that I saw my job on the Council as being to research, question, challenge. So -
